Russian invests $200m in Facebook

A Russian multi-millionaire has invested $200 million (£125 million) for a two per cent stake in social networking website Facebook, it has been revealed.
Yuri Milner of Digital Sky Technologies (DST) has given the site its first major funding since 2007, when Microsoft bought a 1.6 per cent stake for $240 million.
Individuals intrigued by website analytics will be interested to learn that some 200 million users are now registered with Facebook worldwide.
Facebook chief executive Mark Zuckerberg stated that, of the parties interested, he chose DST "because of the global perspective it brings, backed up by the impressive growth and financial achievements of its internet investments".
Meanwhile, Microsoft is set to take on Google and Yahoo with a new search engine, it has been reported.
The as yet unnamed website that will replace the corporation's Live Search and could be called Bing, Hook or Kumo.
