Google co-founder Sergey Brin has commented that developments in JavaScript and web applications are helping push the internet forward.

In news that may interest those searching for affordable web site design, Mr Brin stated that the company is fighting against Page's Law, a theory devised by other co-founder Larry Page that software gets twice as slow within 18 months.

"Fortunately, the hardware folks offset that. We would like to break Page's Law and have our software become increasingly fast on the same hardware," the company head told InternetNews.

Mr Brin added that developments in Gmail and other Google related services owe a great deal to the emergence of JavaScript and the potential of Web 2.0 applications.

In related news, Microsoft has released plans for a new search engine that will supposedly take on the internet marketing giant.

So far the project remains nameless but suggested titles include Bing, Hook and Kumo.
