Social networking 'makes world smaller'

Social networking has "helped make the world seem smaller", according to an expert.

Jonathan Cudworth, head of product marketing at Expedia.co.uk, says that websites such as Twitter are encouraging consumers to leave their comfort zones and head further afield on breaks, those creating custom websites for the travel industry may be interested to hear.

He states that this kind of technology supplements traditional sources of marketing and advertising such as television, it may interest travel firms considering a search engine optimisation campaign to learn.

Mr Cudworth adds: "It's more supplementary material which helps a person make a better decision."

He adds that social networking is able to give consumers more information, allowing them to make informed decisions.
