Some of the most popular social media websites are enjoying mixed fortunes, according to a source.

Nick Clark, writing for the Independent, has looked into the performance of several web 2.0 giants, discovering that some are fairing better than others, those interested in ecommerce solutions may be intrigued to hear.

Mr Clark states that things are looking up for Twitter, Hi5 and Linkedin, with the latter having a "captive audience of business professionals".

He comments that the website's unique users have jumped to 880,000 in the UK alone during the last year, according to ComScore statistics.

Adam Daum, of Gartner, explains to the news provider that Linkedin works due to its audience, which means that it has the potential to generate more advertising revenue than its consumer-based rivals.

However, the writer reveals that the fortunes of Facebook, MySpace and Friends Reunited are all down, describing the latter as an "also-ran".

Elsewhere, Research and Markets has released a 50-minute seminar which aims to educate businesses on how to use social networking.ADNFCR-1093-ID-19190977-ADNFCR
