Social media myths 'cost money'
Internet Marketing

Internet marketing companies who buy into social media myths are wasting their time and money, according to one internet guru.
Gene Marks, internet journalist, wrote on Business Week's blog that he thinks the biggest mistake internet marketers who use social media sites make is believing that they are free and do not need time and attention.
He said: "We've been misled as to the benefits of social networking sites. Many of us are finding that these tools do not live up to the hype, especially for small business."
Mr Marks continued to say that many companies falsely believe that social media sites are a hotbed of new customers and he suggested that the sites are still dominated by teenagers who probably do not have a disposable income.
Twitter co-founder Biz Stone recently spoke about the use of internet marketing on the social media site and unequivocally ruled out advertisements on the micro-blogging tool.
