Google's new Chrome browser is now a lot faster and is trying to compete with Mozilla Firefox and Microsoft's Internet Explorer, according to the Web 2.0 giant.
Darin Fisher from the Google Chrome Team, said: "It has been about eight months since we launched Google Chrome. Aside from exclaiming how fast it is, users have been sending us lots of feedback and feature requests."
He added that the company has focused on increasing the speed of the browser and has paid attention to the customer feedback by adding some of the most requested features.
Specific improvements to the Chrome browser include being able to render JavaScript-heavy web pages 30 per cent faster than with the earlier version of Chrome and the eradication of more than 300 bugs from the previous incarnation.
Google has struggled to make an impact on the dominance of Firefox and Internet Explorer and even resorted to a TV advertising campaign to try and raise the profile of its browser.
A recent survey by Xitimonitor revealed that Internet Explorer had fallen behind Firefox in the battle of browsers and Chrome had almost doubled its percentage share of the market.
