Consumer demand for Flash web content is on the rise and web design executives need to take account of this, according to one expert.
Lee Brimelow of Adobe said at the FITC 2009 event that web users are increasingly requiring websites to offer the functionality of a desktop app in their browsers, IDG reports.
Flash web design can help to do this, although the technology has been subjected to "gratuitous use" in the past for "craziness animation", he conceded.
About 98 per cent of web-enabled desktops currently access Flash internet content, according to Adobe.
Mr Brimelow went on to recommend that web design executives take "a balanced approach" when it comes to using Flash.
Adobe asserts that Flash is the most popular online video platform in use at the moment.
The company recently struck a deal with device makers to deliver Flash content to digital home products such as web-connected TVs, set-top boxes and Blu-ray players, among others.
