Corporations should ensure their web content includes information which may be relevant to stakeholders, according to Investis IQ.

The group recently published its first-quarter rankings for FTSE 100 and FTSE 250 corporate websites, ranking them on some 200 criteria measuring quality and performance.

It named the corporate website for Royal Dutch Shell as the top-performing UK site and noted that overall, firms may wish to do more to improve their web standards "without the need for significant investment".

According to Investis director Al Loehnis, the best corporate sites should lay out the drivers of business performance and work to answer any questions stakeholders may have of management - including performance strategies for continued success in the recession as well as the long-term.

He said: "All too often this sort of information is nowhere to be found on corporate websites - a missed opportunity as it is the first place that the vast majority of stakeholders will come looking."

Royal Dutch Shell's corporate site includes a summary factsheet for 2008 which is translated into a number of languages.ADNFCR-1093-ID-19141856-ADNFCR
