Correct use of internet marketing is 'key for 2009'

The right use of email and general internet marketing is crucial in a difficult economic climate, it was suggested this week.

Making sure it is properly relevant and targeted is one thing, but getting it all tracked and served reliably is also of great importance, said Hostway's marketing manager Phil Turnbull.

Speaking at the Technology for Marketing & Advertising event, he discussed why companies should be concentrating on bettering what processes they already have.

"Businesses should really be focusing on the basics and the key basics at this time," he explained, going on to express how necessary it is to make sure "the platform is appropriate to the application which is driving that marketing campaign".

According to the Internet Advertising Bureau, spending on internet marketing rose by 21 per cent in the first half of 2008 to reach £1.7 billion in total, with particularly popular channels including search engine marketing, classifieds and rich media.ADNFCR-1093-ID-19045177-ADNFCR
