'Do not ignore mobile internet marketing'

Businesses have been urged to look at the potential opportunities offered by mobile internet marketing.

According to Volantis founder and chief executive Mark Watson, the popularity of the mobile web is continuing to increase among consumers and the platform's ability to offer content on the go means businesses could significantly expand their reach.

He told bMighty that small firms looking to tap into the mobile web should consider developing a simple, stripped-down site that can be easily browsed by mobile devices.

Mr Watson went on to warn that businesses failing to make use of the mobile medium may be "leaving money on the table".

"If you jump into the pool, your business will be ahead of the game. There isn't a lot of competitive pressure - users are there but a lot of small and midsize businesses aren't there yet," he explained.

Some of the UK's biggest brands believe that they will invest heavily in mobile advertising over the next five years, according to a study commissioned by O2 last year.ADNFCR-1093-ID-18956190-ADNFCR
