Charities 'should consider internet marketing'

Internet marketing could offer a number of advantages for non-profit organisations, a new study has suggested.
According to Dave McMahon and Charla Griffy-Brown of the Graziadio School of Business and Management at Pepperdine University, search marketing can be a cheap method of marketing for non-profits.
Their research, published in the International Journal of Internet Marketing and Advertising discovered that charities using the right keywords can both increase their search engine rankings and boost their community operations.
Mr McMahon and Ms Griffy-Brown advocated the use of questionnaires to find out what web users want from the charity in question's site and identify the best keywords.
"The compilation, selection, and evaluation of search engine keywords are vitally important to any search engine marketing campaign," they remarked, emphasising that a high ranking will not result in click-throughs unless the keywords are correct.
Many US marketers intend to concentrate on search engine optimisation as part of their recessionary promotional campaigns, according to a recent poll by the Online Marketing Blog.
