Yahoo! has unveiled a new vertical search capability for its Build Your Own Search Service (BOSS) platform.

A post on the Yahoo! Search Blog demonstrated how the vertical lens technology worked by explaining a partnership between Yahoo! BOSS and TechCrunch.

The collaboration saw TechCrunch launch a vertical search engine allowing users to look for news and company data linked to the technology sector on the blog and elsewhere on the web.

Some of the features of the vertical lens technology include real-time proprietary content indexing, structured search and customised rankings.

"Our partnership with TechCrunch highlights the beginning of many more BOSS partner launches as Yahoo! continues to open up its search technologies and infrastructure to the world," said YaJie Ying of the BOSS team.

Launched in July, BOSS provides developers with the technology needed to build a new search services without having to spend money and time on creating algorithms from the ground up.ADNFCR-1093-ID-18899801-ADNFCR
