Qualitative website feedback 'particularly useful'

Businesses looking to improve the usability of their websites could benefit from seeking qualitative feedback from customers as well as statistics from their website analytics programs.
According to thetrainline.com marketing director Iain Hildreth, while analytics software can tell you what is wrong with a web design project, user feedback can tell you why the issue in question is problematic.
He told E-consultancy in an interview that "the qualitative stuff really helps you get under the skin of why people are doing stuff on the site".
Mr Hildreth also advised those looking to engage in user testing to refrain from leading subjects through their tasks and to ensure that they ask all the right questions.
According to Josh Catone of SitePoint, there are a number of low-cost ways in which businesses can test the usability of their websites, including using various online services that offer simple user testing and asking members of a web design forum to carry out essential tasks on the site in question.
