The current credit crunch could offer a host of marketing opportunities for online retailers, according to an industry blog.

Loveclients asserted that online firms may wish to invest in a marketing and advertising campaign that is traceable to determine how to spend their advertising budget most effectively.

Search engine optimisation is one technique online marketers may find to be successful, the blog suggested, while pay-per-click advertising and email marketing campaigns may also be useful avenues to consider.

Online retail is one sector expected to benefit from the current recession, as it is expected to heighten the consumer shift toward making purchases online rather than in bricks and mortar retailers.

The blog suggested that one reason for this shift could be that online retailers have fewer ties to major financial institutions and may therefore be seen as more desirable by consumers and investors.

Figured compiled as part of the IMRG Capgemini e-Retail Sales Index revealed that online spending in August 2008 is 15.1 per cent higher than it was in August 2007, the Retail Bulletin reported.ADNFCR-1093-ID-18789506-ADNFCR
