Lack of social media adoption 'could lose customers'

Web 2.0

Businesses that fail to integrate social media into their operations could lose customers as a result, it has been claimed.

A new study by IT consultancy Avanade has found that more than half of companies are too worried about potentially losing worker productivity to adopt social media strategies.

Furthermore, three in five of the senior executives polled said that managers at their firms did not understand how social media can help to improve customer relationships and aid employees.

Mike Pazak, vice-president of enterprise business solutions at Avanade, stated: "Social media technologies are reaching a turning point ... Companies that do not adapt to these changes or move fast enough will lose customers."

This follows a recent survey carried out by networking firm Telindus suggesting that the majority of office workers make little use of Web 2.0 technologies as part of their jobs, vnunet.com reported.ADNFCR-1093-ID-18771105-ADNFCR
