Unique content "crucial" for SEO

Marketers should concentrate on creating exclusive content that is likely to be favoured by search engines, an expert has recommended.

According to editor-in-chief of E-consultancy Chris Lake, unique content can do much to boost search engine rankings and attract qualified traffic to a website - with these potentially converting to sales.

Indeed, Google has a history of taking action against those sites found to be intentionally using duplicate content to change search rankings.

He called on search engine marketers to also consider the use of rich media as Google has recently taken to including more image and video results in its listings and stressed the importance of aligning both offline and online channels to increase sales.

"The internet now plays a huge role in how consumers perform research before making purchases offline," Mr Lake commented.
