The US government has closed down a UK-based travel site for offering holidays to Cuba, it has been reported.
Bonjour Cuba was targeted by the US Treasury Department and site owner, Steve Marshall had 80 sites blacklisted. His US domain registrar was told to shut them down and deny him access.
Mr Marshall told the New York Times he was not aware of the department's plans to shut his site - when it happened "we thought it was a technical problem", he said.
He explained that the site was not intended to attract US customers, as they can not travel to Cuba.
He told the paper he did not understand how "websites owned by a British national operating via a Spanish travel agency can be affected by US law".
Three of the UK's internet service providers have signed a deal with Phorm to use its new advertising platform and started a wider debate into internet privacy.
