Google tops global search rankings
Search Engines
11 October 2007
A study by analysts comScore has revealed how often we search the internet and which search engine we prefer to use.
In August 750 million users performed 61 billion searches, more than half of which were carried out using Google.
The second most popular search engine was Yahoo, followed by Baidu, Microsoft, NHN, eBay and Time Warner.
Google was founded in 1998 by Larry Page and Sergey Brin and has a global workforce of over 10,000.
The firm claims its mission "is to organise the world's information and make it universally accessible and useful".
As most searches are conducted with the search engine, web developers are keen to improve a website's Google rating, and hopefully improve the volume of traffic to their site.
